Avon firefighter needs sponsorship PDF Print E-mail

Bristol firefighter Danny Munden is preparing to take part in the Polar Race 2007, which will see him travel 400 miles across Northern Canada, before finally crossing the finish line at the North Magnetic Pole. The race is expected to take 30 days to complete, with competitors dragging their supplies behind them in temperatures as low as -40 degrees centigrade.
Accompanying Danny will be Charlie Cooper and Chris Wilkinson, in a team that has been named Brass Monkeys. In order to take part in the event, Danny needs to raise £19,000 sponsorship for his two chosen charities – The National Fire Service Benevolent Fund, and Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal which is in aid of the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Sponsors so far include Bristol Bus and Coach Sales and Gulliver’s Truck and Van Hire, and Danny is currently approaching other businesses in the city in order to help him raise the necessary funds.
He said: “I am really looking forward to taking part in this challenge although I have a lot of hard training ahead of me. I am hoping to raise money for two really good causes and I would love to hear from anyone who can help me out with sponsorship.”
