Avon fact-finding mission |

The head of Avon Fire and Rescue Service’s Equality and Diversity Unit Barbara Brown is embarking on a two-month factfinding trip to Georgia in the United States. While there she will shadow Rebecca Denlinger, Chief Fire Officer of Cobb County Fire and Emergency Service, looking specifically at the work of its employee relations team.
The invitation to travel to Georgia was made by Rebecca during Avon’s international conference looking at women as leaders in the Fire and Rescue Service that took place last October. CFO Denlinger had heard of Barbara’s experiences both with the fire and rescue service in Avon, as well as her social care background, working with children in care, young people with drug and alcohol problems and black and ethnic minority men in prison.
