Course to Help tomorrow’s firefighters PDF Print E-mail
Help is on hand to anyone who is interested in becoming a firefighter, thanks to a new course running in Birmingham. The pre-recruitment course prepares candidates to complete the application form and entrance tests for West Midlands Fire Service. Content of the course, which is free, emphasises personal development and covers communications, interview techniques, numeracy and literacy.
The course has been developed in partnership between West Midlands Fire Service and the City of Wolverhampton College and is already successfully established in that city. It is now being extended and will run at Handsworth Community Fire Station for four weeks from January 16. Alan Swift, West Midlands Fire Service’s Recruitment Section, said: “Being a firefighter is a challenging and rewarding career. This course is designed to help anyone interested in the job understand the recruitment process and ensure they can meet the requirements.”
