Announcing Managing Strategic Performance 2008 – a conference dedicated to understanding the implications of the new Comprehensive Area Assessment for fire and rescue services is to be held on April 23 at the Hotel Russell, Bloomsbury, London, by change management experts Alexander.

Achieving More With Existing Resources
This year’s event – the fourth annual conference targeted at leaders and managers within the FRS – will focus on the forthcoming Comprehensive Area Assessment and the Comprehensive Spending Review; looking at ways by which fire and rescue services can achieve more from existing resources and improve value for money. Ian Smart, Business Development Director at Alexander said: “The Comprehensive Area Assessment will require fire and rescue services to focus themselves very keenly on how they work with partners, share resources to influence and change behaviour as well as reduce risks to vulnerable groups and deliver better community outcomes.
It will also mean that FRSs will be put under increasing pressure to redesign their support and service delivery processes, remove inefficiencies, and move more resources to prevention activities.”

Comprehensive List of Topics
Topics for discussion at Managing Strategic Performance 2008 will include:
CAA and single set of national indicators
Social marketing
Partnership and joint working
Business process reengineering
Improving operational efficiency

Discussing the Implications of CAA
Mike Asbury, Operations Director and former Director of Resources and Planning at Cheshire Fire Service, is keen to emphasise the practical value of the conference: “Delegates who attend Managing Strategic Performance 2008 will have the opportunity to discuss the implications of CAA with each other and will, through the speakers, gain a shared understanding of the implications and changes that will be required within their own services.” For more information visit: www.alexander-ecc.com; or contact Sam Rickwood tel: 023 8022 5530; email: This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it
