Other highlighted areas of good practice included a staff suggestion scheme to help improve the efficiency and quality of the service, called Ideas Ignited, RISE Awards (Recognising Initiative and Service Excellence Awards – the service’s staff recognition scheme), the watch manager empowerment programme and the learning and development process.
The assessors commented in their report: ‘Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service has well established processes and very clear individual, team and business objectives. We commend the organisation on the changes it has made to improve performance which have resulted in a significant shift in culture, outlook and organisational aims’.
CFO Iain Bathgate said: “We’re delighted to have obtained this prestigious award.
