Blazing Saddles four country charity challenge
On 26th May a team of 15 Green Watch Firefighters from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will start a fund raising event that will take them on a journey of over 1,000 miles on 6 scooters wearing their familiar bright yellow fire kit.
The team will be visiting all four countries of the British Isles in four days. The charities benefitting from the challenge will be The Fire Fighters Charity and Clic Sargent, which looks after children who are suffering with cancer and leukaemia.
Green Watch Crew Manager Bob Newton MBE told FIRE that funds raised so far are "a brilliant" £5,200, collected over the Christmas period.
"We would like to thank especially the residents of Croxden Way in Hampden Park. The residents were so generous and made us very welcome. We will return again next year with lots more sweets. Thank you Eastbourne residents and the many others from afar for this fantastic support. Also well done and a big thank you to everyone involved."
The team are going to hold a 'Grand Station Open Day', a charity car wash and football match in the coming months with dates to be announced.
