Chief fire officers Dawn Whittaker (East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service) and Rob Barber (Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service) are the project executives for the NFCC Direct Entry Scheme which launched in April and they clarify here why the scheme to employ station managers from outside the fire sector is the next positive step for the development of our Fire and Rescue Service.
