BREAKING NEWS: Welsh Assembly advisor is latest speaker for the Fire and Rescue Congress
Paul Young, Fire and Rescue Advisor and Inspector to the Welsh Assembly Government, has joined the speaker line up for this year's Fire and Rescue Congress, Out of Control: The Future of Fire Controls in the UK on May 25.
Paul Young will be co-presenting with Michael Wright, Director, Green Street Berman, on Merging Services, which will cover the cost effectiveness of various merger models and look at optimizing resources in the post RCC world.
In the second year of FIRE magazine's Fire and Rescue Congress, the venue will once again be ORT House in Camden Town, north London. Speaking about the event, FIRE correspondent Tony Prosser said: "With speakers of vast experience of operating at the leading edge of technology and thinking in this field, the Congress is an opportunity for those seeking to find solutions to be shown what does exist and also what the future can hold for their service.
"From the basic economics of fire control modelling, through the technology and solutions that are currently available, this Congress promises to be one of the most relevant, challenging and lively in recent years.
"It will encourage debate among peers with a vested interest in securing the best future for the communities. Knowing what is required and what it needs to do is half the battle: this event will help fill in some of the gaps."
FIREEditor Andrew Lynch believes the format is particularly beneficial for delegates: "We designed the Congress to ensure people could share ideas and discuss best practice and it seems to work really well. There was some heated debate at last year's event and I anticipate more of the same this time round.
"I'd encourage anybody in the sector to get along - it'll be informative and I'm sure there'll be some entertaining discussions as well!"
