The IFE’s Register of Fire Risk Assessors is the largest register of its kind in the UK with almost 200 registrants and was set up to assist employers, building owners and managers to source appropriately skilled consultants to help them meet the requirements of legislation.
Fire Risk Assessors are those who carry out fire risk assessments on behalf of those on whom legislation imposes a duty to do so. They may carry out this service, as consultants, on a commercial basis, or they may carry out this work for their employer.
Candidates can apply for Life Safety or Property Protection streams of the register and will be required to submit sample fire risk assessments along with evidence of fire safety education, training and experience for review. They will then be interviewed by a peer review panel, and this panel will make a decision on admission to the register. The whole process takes around 6 months to complete providing all information is submitted when requested and preferential rates are available to those with current IFE membership.
Successful applicants will benefit from recognition within the industry as well as a listing on the IFE website and the opportunity to use the IFE Fire Risk Register of Assessors logo by their name on their Fire Risk Assessments, marketing materials and website.
Once registered, your CPD will be monitored on a regular basis, normally every 2 years, to ensure you are keeping up to date with Fire Risk standards and legislation.
