Staffordshire’s Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford is to receive a Queen’s Fire Service Medal for his contribution to the fire and rescue service.
Current CFOA Vice-President Dartford was recognised in the New Year’s Honours list 2014 which acknowledges extraordinary contribution to society. He will be invited to Buckingham Palace later in the year to be presented his medal.
He said: "I am very pleased to be named in the New Year’s Honours List and look forward to receiving my medal at Buckingham Palace.
"Whilst proud to have been recognised in this way, I am very conscious that the award is equally reflective of the outstanding and remarkable work undertaken across our Service, which results in such positive outcomes for the communities we serve.
"The announcement of this medal signifies a fantastic start to what is set to be a very exciting year for both the Service here in Staffordshire and for me personally as I take up the role of President of the Chief Fire Officers’ Association in September."
