Two-time former world champion super-middleweight boxer Carl Froch recently tested his fitness in a series of firefighter training exercises at his local station in Nottingham.

One of Froch's fight sponsors, North Fire, set up the visit to Carlton Fire Station last Tuesday [24 Jan] where the boxer was hooked up to the latest piece of equipment that Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service use to test aerobic capacity.

Notts FRS Fitness Advisor Tug Davies ran the tests which are used to ensure new or previously injured firefighters are fit enough to return to operational duties, and admitted he was highly impressed by Froch's attitude and results.

"Despite having had six weeks off from training since his last fight Carl is still exceptionally fit", Davies said."He displayed an aerobic capacity of 57, an 'excellent' rating for someone of his age (34) and the equivalent of a very fit 20 - 29 year old.

"He was very interested in finding out his fitness levels now, and wants to repeat the test in a few weeks time to see how he has improved after returning to his strict training regime."
