The Fire Fighters Charity has launched a new fundraising campaign directly appealing to individuals across all areas of the UK fire and rescue service, asking them to respond, via a text message donation, to ensure a much needed boost to its finances in 2017.
Calling on past and present members of the fire and rescue service to donate a one off gift of £5 by texting RESPOND to 70660, the Your Charity Needs You campaign includes a video that was filmed in conjunction with staff from across Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
2015/16 saw the Charity supporting over 5,000 beneficiaries, but the income it brought in through donations fell around £500,000 short of the total needed to operate its services.
In a bid to ensure that this shortfall is lessened in 2017, the Charity’s new campaign aims to encourage people from across the fire community to give a one off gift of £5, providing a financial boost to the Charity in the new year.
Andrew Lynch, Chair of The Fire Fighters Charity, said of the new campaign: “This campaign speaks directly to fire and rescue service personnel of the importance of supporting The Fire Fighters Charity and helping us to ensure we can do as much as we can, to help as many people as we can, in 2017.
