Cheshire hosts successful training event for fire protection
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's Business Liaison team has recently hosted the inaugural northern training event for fire risk assessors and community fire protection inspecting officers.
The event, which took place at the service's Winsford headquarters, aimed to highlight issues and best practice relating to commercial property from fire.
Methods of passive fire protection were presented and discussed by experts in their respective fields, including fire doors, ironmongery, frames and fire seals, fire dampers, structural fire protection and compartment wall penetrations.
The service's Head of Community Fire Protection, Keith Brooks, told FIRE: "We were delighted to host the first northern training event and even more delighted that it has proved a great success. Training is of vital importance, as is the development of staff and the raised awareness of best practice amongst staff and industry professionals alike. We look forward to participating in future events with the Fire Industry Association."
Martin Duggan, General Manager of the Fire Industry Association (FIA), thanked the service for being made welcome and providing superb conference facilities.
The FIA members are always keen to work with fire and rescue services to share information and discussions are already underway for the provision of future seminars with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, providing further training opportunities for community fire protection staff.
