Chief Fire Officer to pay respect to fallen heroes
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service's Chief Fire Officer Roy Wilsher will play a prominent role during the national Remembrance Sunday ceremony.
He has been invited by the Ministry of Justice to lead a detachment at the Civil Services Contingent Parade, comprising mainly of fire and rescue personnel, at the Cenotaph in Whitehall for Remembrance Sunday.
He was nominated by Sir Ken Knight, HM Government Chief Fire and Rescue Advisor.
As part of his duties, he will escort Home Secretary Theresa May through the detachment he is leading.
Roy said: "I am honoured and humbled to be asked to play a role in what is always a very moving and poignant ceremony."
Remembrance Sunday, observed on the second Sunday in November each year, is a day Britain remembers all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom of the nation.
