Speaking at FIRE's Risk Versus Results Roadshow from Lancashire County Cricket Club, Chair Dave Matthews applauded chief officers for committing to contribute to European standards committees.

Following criticism from speakers at the first firefighter safety roadshow last October on lack of UK representation on standards committees, the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) has committed to helping influence European regulations (http://www.fire-magazine.com/content/article.aspx?Id=12801).

Chief Fire Officer Mark Jones, Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, is taking the CFOA lead, and has already "demonstrated a real grasp of the issues relevant to the Fire and Rescue Service and will undoubtedly play a valuable role on behalf of firefighters," according to Dave Matthews.

Mark Jones will be speaking at the roadshow, supported by W.L. Gore and Associates, later today.
