florianFire Minister Brandon Lewis formally launched the Chief’s Charity Challenge at the LGA Conference in Brighton last month and several Principal Officers have already agreed to take part, including Sir Ken Knight, who has recently accepted the role of Ambassador for the Charity.

Another greater success for UK FRS
The challenge will run from 1st May 2013 until 31st December 2013 and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £1000.00.  All monies donated to Operation Florian will help UK Fire Fighters save lives, worldwide.

After launching the challenge, Brandon Lewis said: "I have been very impressed with the work that Operation Florian does to improve firefighting standards in countries where there is a dire need for better equipment and training.

"This is not only a credit to the people who put so much effort into fundraising for Operation Florian, but to those fire and rescue authorities who donate equipment. I very much hope that you will be able to support Operation Florian in this challenge, and make this another great success for the UK's Fire and Rescue Service.'
