Clapham school childrenA group of Clapham schoolchildren have presented firefighters with a handmade thank you card after they stopped a blaze from spreading in their school building.

Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters were called to the school in Nightingale Lane on March 22 after a fire broke out in the first floor of a building.

A quick intervention from crews stopped the fire spreading and the school was only closed to pupils for one day before the Easter holidays.

Firefighters have since been invited back to the school and were presented with a thank you card filled with individual messages and drawings by the pupils.

The schoolchildren were also treated to a demonstration of one of the fire engines hoses.
