Early success for Weymouth Community Fire Station
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service reports on the early success of Weymouth Community Fire Station, one month since it opened its doors to the public.
Not only have crews been busy responding to a variety of incidents from the new station, the community safety teams have also been working hard. There have been many bookings for the community rooms, such as Age Concern IT lessons, fitness classes, meetings and the NHS Breathe Easy clinic.
Community Education Officer, Dave Allan said: "We have welcomed many different types of people to the new community safety centre including today, Fire Cadets from West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service. The cadets were shown around FireWise, had a tour of the building and learnt about how Dorset Fire and Rescue Service do things. The comments that came back were really encouraging and we look forward to welcoming schools and many other community groups in the near future."
The Chief Fire Officer will soon be writing to all head teachers in Dorset to invite them and their pupils to visit Weymouth Community Fire Station and have a FireWise tour, free of charge.
