Fire and Rescue show split
The Fire & Rescue event, scheduled for next May at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre, has been rescheduled. Conference organisers Fire Conferences and Exhibitions Ltd (FCEL), and show organisers United Business Media (UBM Live), have decided to part company.
FCEL is an organisation that represents the interests of the Chief Fire Officers Association, the Institution of Fire Engineers, and the Fire Protection Association.
FCEL Chairman and Humberside Chief Fire Officer Frank Duffield paid tribute to the "excellent" FCEL/UBM Live partnership which he said "has delivered the UK's premier Fire & Rescue event with great success since 2006". He added: "Both organisations feel the time is right for a fresh approach to the Fire & Rescue event which will in 2011 enable FCEL to continue to deliver an event, current and relevant to the market and designed and delivered to meet the needs of its varied audience."
James Blue, Portfolio Director, Fire & Security at UBM Live, said: "The scheduling of the local elections in May 2011 means that the timing of the conference to coincide with the protection and management series of events would not have been appropriate. We've enjoyed working with FCEL since 2006 and wish them every success with their event in the future."
Fire & Rescue 2011 will now take place in late 2011. A further announcement on the format and location of Fire & Rescue 2011 is expected shortly.
