Director of Fire, Resilience and Emergencies Directorate, Neil O'Connor has visited Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to look at the new community fire stations
Neil O'Connor visited Staffordshire to get an insight into the service. His visit took him to the new community fire stations at Rising Brook and Sandyford where he met with firefighters and saw student firefighters and a pre school group using the community facilities.
As well as tours of the stations he was given information about the service's volunteer scheme, partnership working, the new community fire stations project and a National Older Person's Strategy that Staffordshire is leading on.
Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive, Peter Dartford said: "We invited Mr O'Connor to see how Staffordshire is leading the way in many areas of the Fire and Rescue Service and we're delighted that he took us up on our offer. His visit has given him a real insight into some of the fantastic work that is making a difference in our communities."
Director of Fire, Resilience and Emergencies Directorate, Neil O'Connor commented: "I'm fairly new to the role and so I was eager to see how it is for firefighters on the ground.
"It was a very impressive visit; particularly seeing how the service has connected with the community through the new fire stations. I was also very interested to hear about the approach the Service has taken with prevention and education."
