Fire Minister Bob Neill has provided an update on the Fire Futures document.

He told contributors: 'Fire Futures is moving forward at a pace and I would like to thank all of you who have offered so much of your time to contribute your views and expertise. I have been encouraged to hear that those contributions have come from people from across the whole of the fire sector - answering my call for wide ranging, radical options'.

He informed Fire and Rescue Service stakeholders that the workstream chairs are currently drawing together all the work undertaken by partners and volunteers. 'Their report, which will be discussed by the sector dominated Steering Group shortly, will be presented to me on 24 November.

'I want to emphasise that engagement on Fire Futures doesn't end there. I intend to come back to you all once I have had time to digest the thoughts you have presented in the develop options as we consider whether to implement them'.

The Minister said that he would be publishing the report on the department's website -www.communities.gov.uk - adding: 'I would be keen to hear your reactions to it as I consider the report's contents'.
