The Fire Investigation Fire Standard is now open for consultation and will close on Monday 6 December.

The development of the Fire Investigation Fire Standard has been coordinated by the NFCC in conjunction with the NFCC Fire Investigation Committee.

This further Fire Standard accompanies the eight Fire Standards already in place.

The Fire Investigation Fire Standard is underpinned by both the:

  • Code of Practice for Investigators of Fires and Explosions for the Justice Systems in the UK (developed by the National Fire Chiefs Council, Institute of Engineers and UK Association of Fire Investigators); and
  • Forensic science providers: codes of practice and conduct.
