Fire safety message pushed in Glasgow
Minister for Community Safety Fergus Ewing is promoting fire safety and meeting firefighters involved in dealing with recent fire tragedies in Strathclyde, on a visit to Cowcaddens Fire Station in Glasgow today, January 17.
Minister Ewing will speak to fire crews to learn more about how they dealt with these incidents as he acknowledges the superb work they do.
Speaking ahead of his visit, Mr Ewing said: "The recent spate of fire tragedies in Scotland, where seven lives were lost, is a bleak reminder of the devastating danger that fire can pose.
"We are fortunate in Scotland to have such a dedicated and professional fire service and I pay tribute to the work they do every day protecting our communities from the ever-present danger of fire.
"But it is not enough to rely solely on the fire services to protect us, and I urge everyone to be on their guard and take sensible precautions within their home to protect themselves."
