On Friday 11th November 2011, at 11am, (11/11/11) members of Pontypridd Station, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service will attempt to climb the height of Mount Everest in full fire kit using two step machines, it is expected to take approximately five hours to complete.

The event taking place at Tesco, Upper Boat and will raise money for the Firefighter's Charity and Help for Heroes.

The Station has enlisted a local primary school to design a poster for the event; a pupil from Ysgol Gynradd Pont-Sion-Norton drawing was chosen and will advertise the event.

At precisely 11 am a minutes silence will be observed before the challenge commences.

Firefighter Royston O'Reilly, Pontypridd Station said: "We hope the community will come along and show their support to raise as much money as possible for two such worthy charities."
