Andy Marles, former Chief Fire Officer of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, has received a CBE New Year Honour.

Former Chief Andy Marles was awarded a CBE for services to the Fire and Rescue Service.  The 61-year-old retired in November after a 34-year career. Mr Marles, who lives in Magor with wife Caroline, said his award was a team effort: "I feel very honoured and proud to be awarded a CBE. However, I could not have achieved anything without the great team at South Wales Fire and Rescue Service whose tireless support and care for the communities of South Wales is very humbling."

Chairman, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Cllr Anthony Ernest said "On behalf of South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority I would like to express my many congratulations to Former Chief Fire Officer at South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Andy Marles and all those who received awards in the New Year Honours List."
