Grant Lupton has been appointed new International President of the IFE.
In a first, he has also been elected as Chair of the IFE and is the first person to hold both positions at the same time.
Speaking at today’s IFE 90th Annual Conference and AGM, incoming International President Grant Lupton said the appointment was an “honour and a privilege” and he hoped to honour the work of the 84 previous IFE presidents.
Mr Lupton also acknowledged the work done by outgoing chairman Peter Holland, describing him as a “visionary leader,” and acknowledged the work done by outgoing International President Roy Bishop.
In his speech to the AGM, Mr Bishop said the IFE is in a wonderful position as it heads towards its centenary, with the next generation of fire engineers “waiting in the wings.” He also acknowledged the challenges faced by fire professionals over the last 12 months and talked about the impact of international disasters.
Peter Holland was also made a Life Fellow of the IFE, following 40 years’ service. Mr Lupton said this was “the highest honour we can bestow”.
