Humberside Fire and Rescue Service appoint an Assistant Chief Fire Officer
Niall McKiniry has been appointed Humberside Fire and Rescue Service’s (HFRS) new Assistant Chief Fire Officer, following a robust selection process.
Niall joined HFRS in 1995, serving various fire stations and a variety of specialist roles at Service Headquarters. He was promoted to the role of Director in April 2016 and in March 2019 he became Director of Service Improvement and was responsible for Programme Management, Operational Assurance, Performance (including HMICFRS), Health, Safety and Environment, Corporate Communications and Governance.
In his new role he will be supporting the Chief Fire Officer in providing strategic leadership, influencing the vision and direction of the fire and rescue service across four local authorities, covering a population of 930,000 in urban, rural and coastal communities.
Commenting on his appointment, Niall said: “I’m really looking forward to progressing the great work the Service is doing to deliver our vision of safer communities, safer firefighters.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic we have been supporting our communities by providing volunteers in the vaccination roll out to managing the distribution of over 4 million items of PPE to local agencies, and much more. I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with our partner agencies in numerous ways we can help to keep our communities safe.”
