Nottingham Trent University is issuing a call for papers for its conference, 'Emergency management: themes in emergency planning, response and recovery' to be held on 13th November at the Nottingham Conference Centre.

Organisers told FIRE that this is the inaugural conference for a new annual conference and networking event. The intention is to bring together academics and practitioners to learn about latest developments, share research and information and to allow the development of opportunities for promoting and initiating future research in the emergency services and emergency management. The conference presentations will be peer reviewed and will include both oral and poster presentations.

As well as opportunities to share information and network across the broad spectrum of emergency management, the conference is intended to provide a forum for supporting and encouraging both experienced and early career researchers, as well as practitioners involved in practice-focussed research.

A number of research prizes are associated with this event. For example the International Journal of Emergency Services is offering a prize for the best oral presentation and the Emergency Services Research Unit at NTU is offering a prize for the best student poster.

All submissions in relation to suggestions for papers, posters or panels should be sent to Dr Jeff Goatcher at Jeffrey.goatcher@ntu.ac.uk by 18th May.
