Korean oil rig destroyed in fire
A Korean company called Sharjah has had an oil rig completely destroyed in a fire that broke out at 1300 on December 4.
The fire was not fatal, but a Filipino worker who was besides the rig at the time, has suffered minor injuries. Col. Wahid Al Serkal, director general of the Sharjah Civil Defence said that fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the blaze, and with the help of the Marine Defence force at the port, the fire was brought under control within and hour and a half.
After investigations have been made, estimated material losses from the fire will be disclosed. As well as material losses, the cause of the fire will be determined after the evidence is examined by the forensic laboratory of the Sharjah Police.
