This year’s Excellence in Fire & Emergency Awards 2019 will feature new young people and LGBT+ award categories
Friday 6th December 2019, 12pm, One Great George Street, Westminster
FIRE magazine’s Excellence in Fire & Emergency Awards Every will present three brand new awards at this year’s ceremony to bring the total to 16 award categories. Every year emergency service chiefs, their teams and services, suppliers and industry supporters get together at the prestigious One Great George Street, London, to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the fire and emergency services. The Excellence in Fire & Emergency Awards applaud innovative working practices, influential leadership, forward-thinking projects and commitment to the values of the fire and emergency services.
Most Influential LGBT+ Individual in Fire Award – the winner will have demonstrated a significant contribution to promoting and supporting LGBT+ in their service and community to make a positive impact on fire and rescue performance over the last 12 months.
The Young People’s Supporter of the Year Award – this will be given to an individual or team that has worked on training and development for young people through either specific schemes such as Fire Cadets or a wide range of interventions and initiatives.
The Youth Champion of the Year Award – will be given to an individual or team that has excelled on a young people’s course, demonstrating clear improvement in behaviour, performance and positive contribution to their community.
Andrew Lynch, Managing Editor of FIRE, said: “We are delighted to be launching two new sets of awards at this year’s ceremony: the LGBT+ and Young People Awards. The tireless, fearless and often unheralded work of our LGBT+ colleagues, and those volunteers who expend a great deal of effort and spend so much of their own time working with young people, are two areas that are long overdue recognition.
“We thought it would be fitting that those young people who have participated in youth development activity should also be recognised as the ‘Youth Champion’. I am sure all of the new award winners will prove inspirational for the whole emergency services community.”
Christine Hicks, Managing Director, Pavilion Publishing, said: “We are delighted to be holding our sixth annual Excellence in Fire & Emergency Awards, an event which has taken its place as a nationally recognised celebration of achievements within the fire and emergency services. Every year we receive incredible nominations that recognise the hard work and commitment of these services and individuals, and applauding these at the awards ceremony in December is a very special occasion.”
