London Fire Brigade urges Facebookers to ‘Share It, Save a Life’
Following the fatal house fire in the early hours of Saturday 24th September in which a woman and five of her children lost their lives, there has been heightened interest from the public about how to prevent fires and stay safe in the home.
In response London Fire Brigade has launched its new Facebook campaign, Share it, Save a Life. The Brigade will post fire safety tips on its Facebook page every day for a week.
The aim is that Facebook users will then pass these vital tips onto their Facebook friends by clicking 'share' under each tip that is posted. The Brigade hopes to reach one million people with its top fire safety tips.
Chairman of London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority's Community Safety Committee, Cllr Susan Hall, said: "This tragic fire has made many people think about fire safety in their home which is why the Brigade has launched its Facebook campaign, Share it, Save a Life.
"With the help of the Facebook-using public we hope to cut the number of fires.
"If you're one of the 26 million people in the UK who uses Facebook I'd urge you to look us up and show your friends and family how much you care about them by sharing a fire safety tip - you never know, you might just save a life."
FIRE are on Facebook too - 'like' our page and receive three free editions of FIRE magazine - the voice of firefighting and fire protection since 1908.
