Visit www.thefirechat.com to see the latest blog from David Milen! This week he talks about the harsh climate, and recent storms that have made firefighting particularly difficult. We also hear an interesting story about an unfortunate firefighter who lost his moustache in the freezing weather!

Excerpt:

Hello again from snow covered Chicago! We received about 24 inches of snow here within about a day-and-a-half. We calculated that we received about 3-4 inches of snow per hour during most parts of the storm. It was unique in the fact that the sustained winds were about 40 miles per hour (mph) with gusts exceeding 60 mph. Needless to say, there was quite the spectacular of drivers being stranded along Lake Shore Drive in downtown Chicago, cars in ditches alongside the highway, and several vehicles remaining stuck in the snow. Perfect time for a fire and having to battle all of the elements that the environment decides to let loose...
