North Yorkshire invites the public to vote on council taxes
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authorityis inviting the public to give their views on the level of precept funding the Fire and Rescue Authority should be requesting as part of the council tax - 2011/12. Responses can be given through the completion of a simple online questionnaire or by post.
The authority is consulting on options ranging from a 3.9 per cent increase, to no increase at all next year. The aim of the consultation exercise is to ask members of the public their views on what level of council tax increase they would be prepared to support. The authority must stress that it is not proposing any reductions in front line emergency services, whatever council tax level is agreed.
The feedback from the consultation exercise will support the authority when it considers a range of budget management options at its meeting on February 9, 2011.
For those members of the public that would wish to participate in the consultation exercise, the questionnaire will be available online on the authority's website at www.northyorksfire.gov.uk until January 28, 2011. For those who do not have access to the internet, copies of the questionnaire can be posted out by calling 01609 780150.
