IFE is committed to ensuring that our qualifications remain up to date and reflect best practice in assessment. A review of qualifications is currently underway and updated specifications will be available for all qualifications from September 2013.

Following feedback from initial consultation, we are currently considering:
· Revisions to the existing fire safety units to increase the emphasis on the built environment and human behaviour.
· Strengthening the focus on incident command by re-visiting the content of the Operations and Leadership/Management Units and enhancing the link to the relevant National Occupational Standards.
· Introducing new qualification pathways focused on “Fire and Rescue Service Emergency Response” at level 3 and 4; these qualification pathways will comprise four mandatory units. The existing qualifications will continue to be available for those who wish to use the more flexible structure; units within the new pathways will be available as part of the flexible framework.
· Updates to all units and titles as part of our ongoing commitment to quality and currency.
