Social marketing to the rescue
Prevention is key to the work of all fire services say organisers of next month's UK Social Marketing Conference in London.
Identifying high-risk sectors and households on a mass scale requires research, profiling and ultimately targeting. East Sussex Fire and Rescue is in the process of delivering this embedded approach to changing mass behaviour and will be delivering a session on the topic at next month's UK Social Marketing Conference, in London.
The application of mapping and spatial analytical techniques to explore geographical and social patterns of crime incidence is well established. In contrast, the analysis of operational incident data routinely collected by fire brigades has received relatively less research attention.
Tessa Allgeier, a marketing consultant, and Andy Reynolds, Director of Prevention and Protection, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, are presenting their findings on how fire and rescue services are well placed to deliver social change at the UK Social Marketing Conference.
