South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority has announced that Councillor Tudor Davies has been elected as the new Chairman of South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority for the forthcoming year.

He was elected to the position at South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority AGM on June 11th along with Councillor Steven Bradwick, Rhondda Cynon Taff who was elected as Deputy Chairman of the Authority.

Caerphilly Councillor Davies will replace former Chairman of South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority, Councillor Antony Ernest.

On his departure, Councillor Ernest said, "I'm incredibly proud to have been Chairman of South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority for the last four years".

"I would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to the new Chairman of the Authority, Councillor Tudor Davies.  To be the Chairman of such an organisation is a great honour and I wish Councillor Davies and the Authority well as they continue to take the Service forward in the great work that it does."

Also elected were Councillor D. Sage (Bridgend) as Chairman of the Finance, Audit & Performance Management Committee and Councillor S. Jenkins (Caerphilly) as his Deputy. Councillor R. Patel (Cardiff) was elected as Chairman of the Human Resources and Equalities Committee and Councillor S. Jones (Rhondda Cynon Taff) as Deputy for the HR and Equalities.

Upon being elected as Chairman, Councillor Davies said "South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is a high performing organisation that helps thousands of members of the public every day when exposed to the risks and the dangers that befall many of us during our lives".

"I am incredibly proud to have been elected as Chairman - to be the Chairman of such and organisation is a great honour and I will work with my colleagues to continue to take the organisation forward and providing our communities with a first class service".
