South Wales Fire Authority has launched a recruitment drive for auxiliary firefighters to act as cover during any potential strike action in the principality.

The move comes following a meeting of the Authority last week [5 Sept] to discuss the on-going Pension’s dispute between the Department for Communities and Local Government, Welsh Government Ministers and the Fire Brigade’s Union (FBU).

In a statement the Authority said: "Auxiliary Firefighters (Driver) will be used to provide basic firefighting and rescue response to emergency incidents during any period of industrial action."

Details of how potential applicants can apply for the position of an Auxiliary Firefighter (Driver) are on the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service website at www.southwales-fire.gov.uk
