South Wales welcomes new Assistant Chief Fire Officer

Richard Prendergast was selected by an Appointments Committee representing the Fire and Rescue Authority on 27 March 2015 and he has taken up his new position within the Service with immediate effect.
In his role as Director of Technical Services, ACFO Prendergast will be responsible for Operational Risk Management, Health and Safety, Fleet and ICT.
ACFO Prendergast said: “I am incredibly proud to be appointed to the position of Assistant Chief Fire Officer and Director of Technical Services for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. I am looking forward to shaping our systems to ensure that they are fit for the future, so that as a Service we can continue to reduce risk in our communities and make South Wales safer.”
He joined SWFRS as a firefighter straight from University in September 1997.
Cllr. Tudor Davies, Chairman of South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority commented, “I would like to congratulate Richard on his promotion to the role of Assistant Chief Fire Officer within South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. Richard has worked hard throughout his career with the Service in the delivery of preventative and reactive services and as an Authority, believe that he will be effective in delivering in his new role.”
