The Fire Industry Association (FIA) has appointed Graham Simons as Technical Manager. Graham joins the FIA to work alongside Technical Managers Robert Thilthorpe and Phil Martin to deliver technical advice and support.

The Fire Industry Association told FIRE that Graham brings a wealth of experience in fire safety to his new role, having spent 12 years as Regulatory Manager at Honeywell Life Safety; where he provided expertise on the regulatory requirements of fire alarm control panels and power supplies, including the installation requirements of UK, French and German installations. Here, Graham's main activity was managing product approvals to CPD, EMC, LVD and the numerous approval agencies including LPCB, AFNOR, BOSEC, UL and VdS. According to FIA, Graham has also worked on various technical committees, including the FIA and Euralarm trade associations, BSI FSH12 and ISO TC21 standards committees.

Previously, Graham worked for Eurotherm, manufacturers of industrial process control equipment. There he pursued various roles including quality manager, product manager, project manager, design engineer and test engineer.

Commenting on the appointment Robert Thilthorpe, said, "We have already worked closely with Graham through his contribution to FIA and other standards committees and are delighted that he will be joining us.  Feedback from FIA members tells us that the technical expertise we offer is a key reason for joining the FIA. Graham will certainly help us to extend and enhance the technical service; he not only has an excellent understanding of the approvals process but also hands-on experience in a variety of technical roles that will undoubtedly prove beneficial to our members."
