The award presentations took place at the Rescue 3 Europe Technical Rescue Conference which was held at the Royal International Pavilion in Llangollen on Wednesday April 26.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Matt Jenkinson, who is the lead trainer for the Rescue Cell, Learning and Development, and Adam Bowen, Watch Manager at Sandyford, both scooped ‘instructor of the year’ awards.

The conference assembles leading technical experts from around the globe. World class specialists deliver technical updates and discuss best practice and learning taken from significant international incidents.

Ed Case, Training Manager, said: “It was an extremely proud moment for the Service when the winners were presented with their awards at the conference.

“This is a huge achievement for Matt and Adam who were awarded two of the three international awards for Instructor of the Year.

“The awards were received by Matt (on behalf of Adam) and presented by Rescue 3 International Chief Executive Officer Mike Turnbull. Mike said that they won due to their outstanding delivery of Rescue 3 Europe Confined Space Courses.

“The awards are voted for by course candidates and instructor trainers who have quality assured a variety of courses over the last 12 months.”
