It's been a dramatic few weeks for firefighters in the West Midlands, who have rescued or led to safety 54 people in last six weeks in a variety of incidents from kitchen fires to water rescues.

West Midlands Fire Service told FIRE that between 11th October and 20th November, firefighters from across the region have rescued eight people from house fires and led 29 to safety, while five people have been rescued from fires in commercial premises and a further 34 were led to safety

In a single incident involving a severe warehouse fire in Warwick Road Sparkhill, two people were rescued by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and a further four were led to safety.
