As part of the Mayors Civic Day, Cllr Graham Winter, showed off the brand new Weymouth Community Fire Station to an impressed group of visiting council leaders from across the country.

The Mayor of Weymouth and Portland said: "The enthusiasm of the fire officers and the effectiveness of demonstrations we saw were fantastic and my guests on the day were also amazed, and envious, at what a wonderful asset we have here in the Borough.
"My thanks go to Chief Fire Officer Darran Gunter and his team for a most interesting visit."

The crew from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service demonstrated the full capabilities of the station opened in July 2011 by Double Olympic Gold Medallist, Sarah Aynton, including the innovative FireWise live demonstration facilities currently being used by many local school groups.

All the fire fighters are extremely proud of their new base, with Gunter saying: "It was my great pleasure to welcome the Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, along with the other Mayor's and Chairmen, to our brand new community fire station.
"The contemporary and eye-catching building not only provides us with an excellent operational base in the heart of one of our vulnerable communities, but also allows us to provide an excellent fire education facility and a community resource."

The CFO also extended an invitation for any past staff members and relatives to visit the new station by contacting Dave Allan on 01305 252707.
