ArsonAn exciting opportunity will arise shortly for an exceptional senior manager with extensive experience of managing fire safety within large complex organisations. Can you demonstrate extensive experience of Risk Management, proven ability to think strategically, ability to engage with stakeholders at senior level and possess excellent written and oral communication skills?

The post is the Head of profession for fire safety within MoJ and supports the Permanent Secretary and Board in their corporate responsibility for fire safety and compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.across MoJ, its Agencies and other Cluster partners.  

The post holder will be the single point of expertise to set the fire safety policy, establish a governance framework, and provide an overarching view on compliance in relation to fire safety. This will require engagement with a number of stakeholders including CPFIG.

Candidates applying for this role should have excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills, coupled with a professional approach and style; you should also be able to handle and respond to complex queries and provide innovative solutions.

  • You will need Leadership experience with performance monitoring and quality monitoring skills
  • You will manage a small team within the Ministry of Justice shared estates cluster, one of the largest estates in Government, comprising in excess of 1500 buildings including MoJ, Home Office, CPS and DFE cluster.
  • You will be responsible for creation and maintenance of the Fire Safety policy, agreeing with stakeholders the framework for Audit and Governance across all Cluster partners, setting minimum standards, providing specialist advice, guidance and assurance on Policy, Technical Standards and Operational issues pertaining to fire safety to all Cluster Partners  
  • You will have achieved a minimum of IFE Level 4 Fire Safety Certificate and Full Membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers, and have extensive knowledge of fire safety in both Custodial and Non-Custodial environments. 

The post holder must hold or obtain CTC level of security clearance.

The role will involve travel to establishments throughout England and Wales and requires a handover period largely based in London.  After handover, the role could be based elsewhere in England or Wales with flexibility to travel.

Part-time applicants will be considered under job share arrangements.

The unit is supportive of and encourages flexible working and compressed hours candidates will also be considered.

Salary £42,454 Nationwide - £51,039 Inner London
