Kingswood fire crews mark Remembrance 2022 with truck design

Staff from across Avon Fire and Rescue Service (AF&RS) have worked together to come up with a striking poppy design that commemorates all those who have given ultimate sacrifice.

Wrapped on 4 November ahead of Remembrance events, designers worked alongside crews to produce imagery that reflected all aspects of remembrance The artwork features firefighters, soldiers, poppies and planes flying overhead, to pay tribute to all those who have lost their lives protecting others.

Chief Fire Officer Simon Shilton said: “As Fire Service staff, Remembrance is very important to us, as it is for the wider community.

“We wanted to create a design that pays a fitting tribute to those who have lost their lives protecting others, and I am very proud of the work that has been done.”

With the design having been produced with the help of Kingswood’s firefighters, Tim Jones, Blue Watch Firefighter said: “I spent over 13 years in The Army myself, and a sizable amount of our work force are also veterans, so this is a very important cause for us all.

“We are proud to support the Poppy Appeal again this year in remembrance for those that fell in war and peace time.”

The truck wrapping comes as part of the Service’s wider scheme of Remembrance, with staff also taking part in minutes of silence across the service area.

Newly-wrapped, the fire engine will spend a month in service in and around the Kingswood area.
