Working together to drive change: Fire Conference 2022 launches safety strategy
The blueprint for a National Fire Safety Strategy was launched at the annual conference on October 18 at Aviva Headquarters in the City of London. Correspondent Andrew Chilvers reports.

Working with industry leaders, the Fire Sector Federation used the Fire Conference – a partnership between the Federation, the National Fire Chiefs Council, the Institution of Fire Engineers and the Fire Protection Association – to launch an initiative calling for wider discussion to create a national fire safety strategy.
The strategy means to go beyond current legislative proposals, to comprehensively address measures to mitigate fire risk in the UK.
Jonathan O’Neill, Managing Director of the Fire Protection Association and the Federation’s Policy and Strategy Lead, launched the initiative alongside Bob Blackman, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Fire Safety and Rescue Group. Mr Blackman used the opportunity to pay tribute to his predecessor, Sir David Amess, who had been tragically murdered just over a year previously in his constituency surgery.
